The azaleas are coming into full bloom here and we are truly enjoying the beauty of these bushes.
This picture was taken at the rest area in Vicksburg, MS. This rest area sits right on the Mississippi River.
Sometimes life just throws you a curve ball. We had this happen on New Years Eve and we have been on a roller coaster ride ever since.
We were involved in a 4 car accident on New Years Eve and we happened to be the front car involved. We just happened to be sitting in the turning lane at a traffic light waiting for the light to change when we were rear ended. We didn’t realize how many were involved till we got out of our vehicle. Yup 4 cars, what a wonderful thing to deal with.
So since New Years Eve, we have been dealing with what we have begun to call, “as the van turns”. It seems like there is a new adventure in this saga every day. We are learning to just take everything day by day, because that is all we can do. Things we thought were complete turns out to be not complete because something wasn’t as expected. But we are rolling with it.
We are hoping this will be a quick adventure, but somehow I think it won’t be. We had high hopes for our new year and new adventures. But sometimes that curve ball hits and you are forced to take a new direction from what you were planning or just take a slight detour.
For now we are on our slight detour that has consumed a lot of our time since New Years Day, but we will just continue on. We will be stronger in the end for going through this.
This year I decided to do my goals a little different. I am going to have some goals that I know for sure that I want to complete this year and I intend on adding a few more along the way during the year. I wanted a little more freedom this year in my goals, plus I wanted to make sure that I was actually going to complete said goals in a reasonable time frame instead of spreading it out throughout the year.
So what are some of my goals for this year?
Some of my goals are:
- Loose 50 pounds by October.
- Exercise 3 times a week.
- Read 12 books.
- Get rid of 2017 items
- Clean and de-junk every room in the house.
- Work on budgeting
- Go on a big trip to the NE in October.
- Earn $900 in Amazon Gift Cards for gift giving.
- Earn $200 in gift cards for our trip in October.
- Sell $3,000 in profit on eBay.
- Attend the 2:1 conference in October.
- Earn $500 a month from blogs.
I would love to hear what some of your goals are. Do you have any for this year? If so leave a comment with what they are.
Every year for the past few years, I have had a word that was to be my theme for the year. Last year was action that actually went to rest and relaxation. This year my theme is going to be “double time”.
Double time is used in the military and means a fast marching pace. But I don’t want to use the word in that context. I don’t want to be going on with life at a fast marching pace, instead I want to make up for lost time.
Doing so is important to me, but I also don’t want to kill myself. So this year as I move forward in double time, I am meaning that I want to make up for lost time. I want to be productive this year and really accomplish some things by the end of the year. I just don’t want this year to be another ho hum year. This is the year to make life count. Anyone with me?
Do you have a word or theme for this year? I would love to hear about it.
Going to the library can save you tons of money as long as you return your books and movies on time or those little late fines just might kill you.
The library is a great source for getting books without having to buy them. Also most libraries have movies and music that you can check out. Sometimes if your local library doesn’t have what you are looking for, they can get it from another library.
Sometimes libraries have special programs at the library that you can attend or some even sponsor trips to different places for a fee. Growing up our library used to go into New York city to see some of the museums there and we took advantage of it a few times.
So go check out your local library, you might be surprised what you will find there.
It is getting near that time of year when I start to think about the new year that is coming and how I want my year to look when I look back on it. This past year my word for the year was “action”. I am sorry to say that I have failed miserably at this, this past year. What started to be high hopes for lots of action has turned into needed rest and reflection.
It seems like I started off to a great start with getting things going, but life has gotten in the way. I also think I fell off the band wagon and didn’t keep on top of my progress. Basically, I didn’t set my goals right.
So when you are setting goals, what are you supposed to be aiming for? Well for one thing, you need to come up with SMART goals. What exactly are smart goals? Well smart goals are:
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Attainable
R – Relevant
T – Time Bound
If you plan smart goals, you should have better success than when you don’t and that was my problem last year. But this year, I plan to do better at planning and achieving my goals.
Are you ready to get serious with your goals for next year? I know I am.
